• Details:  This is an exquisite antique grated cheese dispenser.  It is etched blown glass and sterling silver, from American silver manufacturer, Frank M. Whiting, (1878- 1940).  It has an elegant, timeless design, worthy of your most special occasions.  This style shaker has a pointed finial top and 12 large holes to dispense grated Parmesan or other grated cheeses and condiments.  The delicately etched blown glass, paired with a sterling silver holloware base, and screw top, combines functionality with classic craftsmanship, making it an ideal addition to antique tableware collections, or a distinguished gift for connoisseurs of fine serveware. F. M. Whiting & Co was founded in in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, originally a partnership under the name "Holbrook, Whiting & Albee" in 1876.  At the end of two years, Mr. Whiting bought the interests of Holbrook and Albee, the son's partners, and formed a new firm under the name "Frank M. Whiting & Co" in 1878.   He became a major manufacturer of sterling silver flatware and holloware with many of their intricate flatware designs still sought after today.  The Frank M. Whiting Company became a division of the Ellmore Silver Company in 1940.  They continued to make flatware using the Whiting name until closing in 1960.
